Yesterday I had to run a few errands in town between clients. I found myself dashing around, trying to get everything ticked off my list, when I realised I was quite hungry and just needed to stop. So I took myself off to a lovely little cafe, tended to some work emails while I waited for my food, and then enjoyed a delicious lunch. And just paused. It was bliss.
Ever feel like that?
Like you just want to be left to your own devices?
Sometimes it’s because you feel harassed by the many people in your life (colleagues, children, sales people, social media). Other times you’re just aware you need a little you time.
That was me yesterday. I just needed to stop and watch the world go by for a moment. It was so nice to simply sit alone and enjoy the warmth of the sun streaming through the window. I was truly happy in that moment.
I wanted to share this with you because it’s easy to get caught up in trying to keep everybody else happy, and consequently forget about yourself. Then when you do focus on yourself you feel guilty for neglecting others. Please remember that it’s OK to seek time alone and be selfish occasionally. I really do believe it’s the key to happiness.
With that in mind, I also wanted to share this video.
For the record, I do find this woman a little grating, but if you can get past the first minute, I really subscribe to most of the points she makes. 90% of her suggestions fit in with my own beliefs. So if you want some extra advice on How To Be Happy then watch the video.
Have a great weekend.
