I should probably start by saying that I don’t actually hate you. On the contrary, I am rather fond of you.  All of you. I care about you all a great deal, which is why I get quite emotional when I hear certain comments in passing.

You see, this week I have picked up on several things, all of which stoked my fire, so to speak. These are all real examples, so if you’re reading this and think “hold on, that sounds like me”, you’re probably not mistaken!  Don’t take it personally… I can only thank you for inspiring me.  All of the below citations are exact things I heard in the last week or so but I hear similar things all the time, which is why I felt compelled to share… I know lots of others will benefit from this post and be able to identify with what I have to say.

It all boils down to not getting eating clean.  Eating clean is a way of life, and fundamentally is very simply about eating real FOOD.  It’s not about dieting, it’s not about deprivation, and it’s certainly not about any weird and wonderful concepts.  Just nourishing your body with actual food, instead of processed crap.

Here are a few of the little nuggets that have caught my attention of late:

“I figured there was no point shelling out for coconut oil as I’m only on this plan for a few weeks.”
“I’m going to do your Cleanse in April.”

“Muller light special edition are on offer in Sainsbury and they’re syn free.”

“Life’s too short not to have a bowl of chips when you go to the pub.”

“I’m loving eating clean but I’m not sure about making my kids eat like this.”

“You should eat little and often, choose low fat spreads on wholegrain bread and eat your carbs early in the day so you have time to burn them off.”

Now the reason I am writing this is because I am pretty sure that a lot of people will identify with the above. Perhaps you even recall saying it? It’s only fair that I mention that some of the quotes are taken out of context, and I am not singling out any of these people at all.  I just found it an interesting lesson in mindset.

I’ll split this up into a series of posts, otherwise it really will turn into an essay!
